Nicolas Cage in National Treasure

2 National 2 Treasure won the post-Christmas, pre-New-Year weekend box office battle, and the movies that debuted on the traditional Christmas Day fared not-so-well. The highest debut was Alien vs. Predator: Requiem, the most pretentiously titled dopey horro movie ever, at number 6, while The Great Debaters, the Denzel Washington-directed, Oprah Winfrey-produced Oscar contender, didn't even crack the top 10, taking in only $6.3 million.

2. Alvin and the Chipmunks - $30m
3. I Am Legend - $27.5m
4. Charlie Wilson's War - $11.7m
5. Juno - $10.3m
6. Alien vs. Predator: Requiem - $10m
