Charlize Is Talkin' About The Road

Charlize Theron, Viggo Mortensen

The Road don't take no guff. But it does take Charlize Theron. Variety says she's signed on to star with Viggo Mortensen in an adaptation of the novel, the synopsis of which reads quite a lot like I Am Legend.

Story centers on a man who embarks on a nightmarish road trip after a nuclear explosion in an attempt to transport his son to safety while fending off cannibals. Theron, who will play the wife of Mortensen's character, will be seen mostly in flashback. Although the role is small, Theron joined the project because she's a big fan of the book.

Theron just wrapped up work on Hancock with The Fresh Prince, so maybe Big Willie said 'yeah, do the post-apocalyptic monster movie.' Especially if it's directed by the guy who made the brutal and dark western The Proposition, John Hillcoat. He'll likely serve a crazy cannibal movie well.
