Casey Affleck has been a squirrelly cowboy, a gruff Boston detective and an Oscar nominee in the last year, and now word is he's setting up shop in Ridley Scott's first crack at a noir film called The Kind One, where he'll likely get to wear a fedora and truck around 1930s Los Angeles. It's a classic kind of noir tale with a bit of a twist - a sad sack falls in love with the girlfriend of a killer mobster, but said sad sack is a sad sack because he's an amnesiac, see? It's based on Tom Epperson's novel and he's gonna be scrawlin' the screenplay, yeah, see, yeah. Should be a good flick. even if Casey Affleck is about as rough and tumble as a broken dryer.
