It's finally official after months of rumors: Guillermo Del Toro will direct The Hobbit and it's sequel, to be executive-produced by Peter Jackson, the Lord of the Rings guru.
Most interesting is this sequel to The Hobbit, which will be an entirely original tale set in J.R.R. Tolkien's world and bridging the gap between the prequel and the LOTR trilogy, likely to be written by Jackson, his wife Fran Walsh and collaborator Philippa Boyens.
Jackson on Del Toro: "A true original...a cinematic magician who has never lost his child-like sense of wonder. We are delighted ‘The Hobbit’ is in such trustworthy hands."
