Hollywood Elsewhere tells us that Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull has just been locked in and runs about 2 hours and 20 minutes, with backup from John Williams himself saying the film is seven reels long, and each reel is 20 minutes. This would make it the longest Indiana Jones movie ever.
Then there are also the rumors that The Dark Knight will run between 2.5 to 3 hours itself, and that director Christopher Nolan can't or won't cut it down, perhaps wanting to preserve as much of Heath Ledger's last complete performance as possible.
People associate summer blockbusters with light, quick fun. Will they stay put for 3 hours? For Indiana Jones and Batman, I think the odds are pretty damn good.
