Video: Frank Miller's "The Spirit" Moves to Xmas

The Spirit

Frank Miller's The Spirit has just moved up it's release date from January 2009 to December 25, 2008.

Based on the comic book created by industry legend Will Eisner (awards in the comics biz are actually named the Eisners, so that should tell you something about his importance to the field), it's the story of Denny Colt, a detective whose ability to withstand most any beating helps him fight crime in the mythical town of Central City, decked out in a snazzy suit and fedora, complete with a domino mask. The film stars Gabriel Macht in the title role, along with Eva Mendes, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson and Sarah Paulson.

The first trailer gives it a very Sin City feel, which is appropriate for Frank Miller - but is it appropriate for The Spirit? We'll find out when we open our Christmas present.

Watch the trailer for The Spirit.

Watch an interview with Eva Mendes about working with Frank Miller on the film.
