News: Jason Segel's Muppet Movie

Jason Segel

He did a puppet comedy at the end of his critical success Forgetting Sarah Marshall, so it's a logical progression that Jason Segel is now actually writing the next Muppet movie. His Muppet obsession is strong enough that he's written in a cameo that harkens back to The Great Muppet Caper [watch the trailer].

“I have a cameo for Charles Grodin in it,” the writer excitedly revealed about plans for his new Muppet film. “It’s a really brilliant cameo, I must say. I’m really proud of it.”

As far as the contrast between the kid-friendly Muppets and the resoundingly adult-oriented career he's had so far, Segel dismisses any concern.

“When I get into Muppet mode I turn into a 12-year-old boy,” he protested. “I think them seeing me in those meetings, they had no doubt I would be OK with the tone.”

Now if only he could get Steve Martin back in the fray as well...
