News: Point Break 2?

Point Break

In weird, unexpected news, it looks like Jan De Bont wants to make Point Break 2: Point Breaker. Or maybe 2 Point 2 Break. Actually, it's going to be called Point Break Indo, and it'll be set in Indonesia.

We've got the original Point Break, starring Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves, in its entirety right here on Fancast, but apparently the sequel would take place 20 years after the disappearance of Swayze's charcter, Bodhi, who led a gang of criminal surfers who robbed banks wearing creepy masks of ex-presidents. See, because if you want the ultimate, you have to be ready to pay the ultimate price.

IESB has the synopsis:

When Billy Dalton, military special ops and star surfer, is disqualified from the pro-surfing tour, he takes off for the coast of Bali looking for the perfect wave. While there he’s recruited by a private security force who are trying to find a gang known as The Bush Administration, surfing outlaws and modern day pirates who work like “The Ex-Presidents,” a bank robbing crew from Malibu twenty years ago.

Point Break Episode II: Attack of the Waves will be written by the same guy who wrote Point Break Episode I: The Phantom Swayze, W. Peter Iliff. There is talk that both Reeeves and Swayze have been approached to appear in the film, but no word on whether either will participate. Given Swayze's recent health issues, things look doubtful there, but De Bont did direct Reeves in the movie that solidified his star status, Speed.
