Let's try to play the "figure out the plot of Terminator:Salvation:The Future Begins from this press release, shall we?
In the highly anticipated new installment of The Terminator film franchise, set in post-apocalyptic 2018, Christian Bale stars as John Connor, the man fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. But the future Connor was raised to believe in is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row. Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future, or rescued from the past. As Skynet prepares its final onslaught, Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of Skynet's operations, where they uncover the terrible secret behind the possible annihilation of mankind.
First of all, whenever I see Sam Worthington's name, I always first think of Sam Huntington of the criminally underrated Detroit Rock City, so I'm already thrown for a loop right off the bat.
Then there's all this talk of a mysterious stranger who may be from the past or may be from the future, who knows? And John Connor's future may be altered? I never saw Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, so maybe I missed something somewhere, but hasn't it even been altered at ALL by the events in three previous Terminator movies?
We know this new Terminator saga is a trilogy, so there's probably a long-range plan. Want to take bets on the "terrible secret" behind the annihilation of mankind? Two choices - either crazy space aliens did it, or it's actually somehow John Connor's fault that it happened. Although it would be sorta cool if Arnold Schwarzenegger played some human mastermind behind it all.. Only sorta cool, because this is the movie where the franchise outgrows Arnold, which it desperately needs to do to survive.

I anticipate the upcoming Terminator movie series, I think Christian Bale is a great asset to the cast and will definitely attract a wide audience. Since the franchise is taking a different approach, perhaps the storyline will change, otherwise, we would know what to expect. Terminator Salvation - The Future Begins, what a great title
