On Fancast's Facebook page, we ran a big poll about the upcoming Sex and the City movie [watch the trailer], just to see what fans are thinking about the legacy of Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall), Charlotte York (Kristin Davis) and Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon). The results might be a bit surprising.
Question #1: Do you think Sex and the City will be THE chick flick of the summer?
31% of the respondents agreed with this statement, while 6% went so far as to call it the chick flick of the (admittedly young) century. 13%, however, were wary that this film stands no chance of topping the HBO series it's derived from. However, the number one response to this question was a full 50% of the responders saying "No, I think it will suck." That said, the responders were 50% male and 50% female, so maybe you can guess which 50% are the Negative Nellies.
Question #2: Should this movie be the final chapter to the Sex and the City legacy?
The winning response, with 57% of the vote, was "Yes, it's better to burn out than fade away." 26% are quietly crossing their fingers and hoping for more, 8% more are confident that there's already a sequel in the works, and then there's that adamant 9% who are demanding that they make more episodes of the series. Those would be the fanatics. Again, 57% of the respondents were male, so take from that what you will.
Question #3: Who is the hottest Sex and the City character?
No big surprise here that Samantha the Sexpot carries this category with 40%, although Mr. Big (Chris Noth) in second place with 23% may be unexpected (unless you count the fact that 81% of the vote was female this time around). The star of the show, Carrie Bradshaw, comes in third with 17%, followed by Charlotte at 13% and Miranda with 7%.
Question #4: Do you think there's a little bit of Samantha in everyone?
With a 69% female response, 45% said it's possible, but some people are very good at hiding their inner Samantha, while 38% are sincerely hoping that's the case. 10% are dreamers who doubt it as a reality, and 7% are convinced that the opposite is more likely. Whether that means there is no Samantha in anyone, or that there is a LOT of Samantha in everyone is up to ou to decipher.
Question #5: If you could swap closets with any Sex and the CIty character, who would it be?
Carrie finally wins one, with 38% of the respondents saying it's all about the shoes. Smart, sexy and sassy Miranda's got a great showing this time around with 27%, while best-dressed girl-next-door Charlotte tied with Carrie's new assistant Louise (Jennifer Hudson) at 15% each. Bringing up the rear is Samantha with 5%, because she's usually bringing out her rear anyway.
So there you have it - Fancast's Facebook Zeitgeist as it pertains to sexy women in Manhattan. Interesting, isn't it?

Of course men don't like the show.
The four characters are not attractive. They are not 'Sexy women in manhattan." That would be obvious if you did a poll on a group of ONLY MEN. If you put Vida Guerra on that show, a lot more men could actually enjoy it, because it's actually interesting watching the sex life of an attractive person.
Who cares what sexed-out thirty-something Average-Looking women do in the bedroom or clubs? Look at pictures of the movie premiere in london, who actually showed up? All women. That should tell you something. Sarah Jessica Parker, if put in a t-shirt and jeans, would not stand out on the streets of manhattan. Her fashion and dresses are LITERALLY the only reason she continues to get attention, she has neither acting ability or a face+body. However, look at the devastating effect that such a plain outfit would have on the male populace if Jessica Biel walked down the street. My lord! Put her on the show next time! She can fill out anything, and she has a face to die for!
