Here's the fun news: they want to make a live-action/animated Smurfs movie.
Here's the not-so-fun news: the guys in negotiations to write it, David Stern and David Weiss, are the same guys who wrote the Shrek sequels.
Sure, Shrek stuff made zillions, but they're also bogged down with dated pop-culture references and are generally just second-rate in actual quality. So if you want to see Smurfs making references to Meet Dave and The Love Guru, this might actually be up your alley.
