It's still not official that Darren Aronofsky will be helming a new Robocop movie, but it's getting closer to it. But now there's word that the new film wouldn't be the expected reimagineering of the series, but rather an actual sequel, set 20 years after the termination of the RoboCop project, yet in "present day" Los Angeles instead of Detroit. "Present day" is suspect because the first Robocop film took place in 1997, and as old as some of us feel remembering that it's been over a decade since Titanic came out that year, it's only 11 years, not 20. Don't age us faster than necessary.
We'll see what they actually manage to do, and if they actually can get Peter Weller back in the suit. An aging Robocop would be interesting, although hell on Weller to move that clunky thing around at age 61.
