According to the official site, Eric Powell's crazy, funny and twisted Dark Horse comic-book series The Goon, about an unstoppable palooka who lives and runs rackets in a town overrun by zombies and other uglies, has been optioned by none other than David Fincher to be transformed into a CG animated feature film. You might remember Fincher from such films as Fight Club, Zodiac and the upcoming Oscar contender The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. This is on the heels of news that he's going to produce and co-direct the Heavy Metal anthology series in the same vein.
No word yet on whether he'll direct or simply produce The Goon, but Fincher's involvement suggests that the tone of the books won't suffer any dilution or softening up. This is exceptionally good for The Goon's relentlessly perverted sidekick Franky, not to mention the gory details of zombie splattering.
