Watch the World War II epic The Longest Day in its entirety right here, right now on Fancast.
As Independence Day approaches, it's hard to find a better way to celebrate our collective patriotism than watching classic movies from America's last great war, World War II.
John Wayne, Henry Fonda, Robert Mitchum, Richard Burton, Red Buttons, Peter Lawford, Roddy McDowall, Rod Steiger, Robert Wagner and Sean Connery help to form one of the greatest casts ever assembled in 1962's The Longest Day, Darryl F. Zanuck's retelling of the D-Day Allied invasion of Normandy, France, that turned the tide and led to the ultimate defeat of the Nazis' rampage across Europe.
Told from both the Allied and Axis perspectives, it's one of the few World War II films of the era that doesn't rely on German stereotypes - in fact, it even has subtitles for the German and French characters rather than forcing everyone to speak English. It's truly an epic, and you can watch the full movie right here to celebrate history and what truly made America what it is.
