"The Dark Knight" Breaks Midnight Show Records

The Joker

The Dark Knight has set a new box office record for midnight shows - amassing an amazing $18.6 million on Thursday night alone, and it doesn't even include the 3AM and 6AM shows that had been added in to accomodate demand. The previous record was $16.9 million set by Star Wars Epsiode III: Revenge of the Sith, which played over 600 more theaters.

Will it top Spider-Man 3's opening day record of $59.8 million? Anything can happen, but we've certainly got a live one here.
