The first thing one notices about Kabluey is the misspelling of Kablooey. But the fact that there's a weird giant-headed faceless blue guy wandering around throughout the trailer might explain the play on the word.
The blue guy in question is actually a loser by the name of Salman (writer/director/star Scott Prendergast), whose job prospects are low enough that he has to stand around in a big puffy costume and hand out flyers to people. Lisa Kudrow plays his sister-in-law Leslie, who needs Salman to take care of her kids when she goes back to work to support them once her husband is called back to Iraq. The puffy costume job is the added humiliation to the nightmares Salman has trying to tend to his two psychotic nephews who hate him.
Also starring Teri Garr, Chris Parnell, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Christine Taylor, Kabluey looks to be one of those quirky, moody indie comedies that might just form a strong cult following.
