No, it's not an Evil Dead style horror film, but it is a dark comedy/suspense thriller starring Francois Berleand, who also appeared in another successful thriller this year called Tell No One. It is Claude Chabrol's A Girl Cut In Two, and it opens this weekend in selected cities.
Renowned young French actress Ludivine Sagnier is Gabrielle Deniege, a television weather forecaster who finds herself torn between the vastly older man she feels an intimate bond with, an adulterous writer by the name of Charles Saint-Denis (Berleand), and a passionate and wealthy suitor named Paul Gaudens (Benoit Magimel), who openly desires her and despises him. As it becomes apparent that Charles is still happily married and Paul is unstable and potentially dangerous, Gabrielle may find herself cut in more pieces than two.
